PV International Desk : At least 13 school children were killed after a bus collided with a train at a crossing in Kushinagar of Northern India, reports NDTV.
As well as the 13 children, the bus driver was also killed – bringing the death toll up to 14.
The children were students of Divine Public School.
According to reports, all the children killed were below the age of 10.
It is believed they were killed on the spot.
Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh said: “I am saddened by the Kushinagar tragedy that killed so many children.”
Many students were injured in the accident.
Between 20 to 30 children were travelling in the school vehicle.
The accident happened at a rail crossing in Dudhi near Kushinagar town.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his deepest condolences.
He directed the district administration to provide all help and medical aid to the injured.
