PV Desk : Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) observed ‘Port Day’ today to celebrate its 131st founding anniversary of the country’s premier seaport.
In observance of the day, the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) held a day- long programme today through distributing traditional Chittagonian Mezbaan foods at the CPA republican club at 9 am.
The main program of the day includes hoisting of the national and CPA flags at Port Bhaban, discussions, view-exchange and colourful cultural function at 9 am and accords receptions to the retired employees of the port at 4 pm.
Chairman of Chattogram Port Authority Commodore Julfiqur Aziz said the pioneer sea port of the country will be turned into a smart port by 2021 amid implementation of a number of development projects in phases. He disclosed it while talking to the journalists after participating distribution of foods at Bandar republican club this morning.
The chairman chronologically explained the different proposed development projects of the port including Bay Terminal.
CPA chairman also said the authority has taken short, medium and long term strategic master plans to turn the sea port into a user friendly in line with present government’s vision-2021.
CPA member admin Jafar Alam, finance Kamrul Amin, Harbor master Commodore Shahin Rahman, Captain Khondokher Akter Hossain, port secretary Omar Faruk and high officials of different government offices in Chattogram, port users, business leaders among others attended the function.
