PV Sports Desk : South Asian (SA) Games gold medal winner Shakil Ahmed of Bangladesh won silver medal in the 50m Air pistol event of the ongoing Commonwealth Games at Belmont Shooting Center in Brisbane, Australia on Wednesday.
The 22-year old shooter Shakil scored 220.5 in the final to bag the silver medal, after ace shooter Abdullah Hel Baki won the silver for Bangladesh in the 10m air rifles event of the Games.
Host Australian Daniel Repacholi won the gold medal with a score of 227.2 while Indian shooter Om Mitharval bagged bronze medal scoring 201.1. Another Bangladeshi shooter Anwar Hossain finished 10th position in this event.
It was Bangladesh’s second medal in the ongoing Commonwealth Games and the first for Shakil, who is delighted and proud after winning the medal.
Though the 10m Air pistol event is one of Shakil’s pet event, but he produced a dismal performance finishing sixth position before strongly bounced back in 50m air pistol event.
Shakil, who hailed from Khulna, made the nation proud by winning the gold medal in the same event in 2016 SA Games in Assam with a score of 187.6.
