PV Desk : Urging people to vote for ‘boat’ again, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the country has made tremendous progress because people voted for ‘boat’ and put Awami League in power.
The premier also said only AL has actually ensured the rights of the people including the rights of language and voting.
The Prime Minister made the remarks while addressing as chief guest at a public rally organized by District Awami League in Thakurgaon on Thursday (March 29).
She said mass development projects have been mobilized during the tenure of AL including infrastructure development in upazila levels. No other party could do what AL have done for the people.
“We have implemented social security for public welfare and arranged allowance for 67 lakh elderly people of the country. Moreover, 8 lakh disabled people are receiving allowance. Of them, 80,000 are getting scholarship facility for education”, Sheikh Hasina said.
The premier said, “I had promised to establish a digital Bangladesh and I did. Currently there are 13 crore people of the country who use mobile SIM. A total of 5,275 digital centers have been established across the country where people can get any information they require.”
Earlier a helicopter carrying the prime minister will arrive at Thakurgaon on Thursday noon.
People of Thakurgaon received the premier with a warm welcome as it is her first visit there in 16 and half years.
Later the prime minister addressed the public rally to be organized by local Awami League at Govt Boys’ School ground at 3:00pm from where she inaugurated 35 projects and laid the foundation stones of 33 others.
