Pilot Abid’s wife passes away

PV Desk : Afsana Khanom, wife of pilot Abid Sultan who died in the US-Bangla aircraft crash in Kathmandu, passed away at the National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital here today.

She was admitted to the hospital on Sunday following a stroke and kept on life support after physicians conducting a surgery. Her condition deteriorated further on Thursday morning and doctors declared her dead this morning, hospital authorities said.

Afsana had multiple clotting in the right side of her brain and as a result her body’s left side became paralyzed, physicians of the hospital Khorshed Mahmood told BSS.

Khorshed, who is also brother of pilot Abid, said she will be buried beside her husbands’ grave at Banani graveyard in the city.

After the plane crash at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, Captain Abid was admitted to a hospital in Kathmandu with severe injuries and died the next day, according to the officials of US-Bangla Airlines.

A former Bangladesh Air Force officer, Abid was the pilot of the US-Bangla plane that crashed in Nepal on March 12, leaving 49 dead including 26 Bangladeshi nationals.
