PV Desk : State Minister for Information Advocate Tarana Halim today appealed to children for emulating the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“Be patriot like him. Follow his ideals when you grow up,” she said.
The state minister was speaking at a gathering of children at the Bangla Academy’s Nazrul Podium on the occasion of the 99th birth day of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Tarana said “Bangabandhu was a very brave person, who fought for people’s right even when he was a student. That’s why he had to suffer imprisonment several times.”
In total he spent 14 years in prison and that is why we have an independent country and an independent flag, she said.
“Bangabandhu loved children very much and so his birthday has been dedicated to children,” she went on.
Tarana appealed to children to study his life and learn more about Father of the Nation who united seven and a half crore people in 1971 to carve out a new nation.
Poet Habibullah Siraji and Actress Shomi Kaisar were present on the occasion.
Shomi in her speeches narrated the life and works of the Father of the Nation.
Habibullah Siraji recited two poems, one by Poet Shamsur Rahman “Amor Nam” (Eternal Name) and another lyrical poetry by Amirul Islam “Shei Chcheleti” (That Boy).
