PV Desk : Following 11 days of treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Prof Dr. Mohammed Zafar Iqbal, who came under a knife attack on March 3, said he has forgiven his assailant Foyzul.
“I have no grievance against the assailant. I have forgiven him. It is not enough to punish the attacker. We must ensure that no one follow this path,” he told newsmen after arriving at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet Wednesday (March 14).
When asked about lapse of police duty during the time of attack, Zafar Iqbal said, “There was no lacking in police duty. In fact, it was them who took me to hospital quickly on that day.”
Addressing his students of SUST, Zafar Iqbal, said, “I wish all well to those who came out in streets protesting the attack on me and kept me in prayers. I’m fine now. My heart was longing to be in the campus and I have come back.”
Earlier, Zafar Iqbal, head of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), left CMH at 10:30 am on Wednesday (March 14).
At 12:58pm, he arrived at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet.
