Police detain BNP leader Dudu

PV Desk : Police have detained BNP leader Shamsuzzaman Dudu after a demonstration in Dhaka over party chief Khaleda Zia’s conviction.
A vice-chairman of the BNP, Dudu was held on Monday after attending a demonstration in front of the press club, said senior leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Police have confirmed arresting Dudu.
Speaking to Detective Branch Joint Commissioner Abdul Baten, however, could not provide any details over the charges against him.
A witness said Dudu took part in a human chain protest in front of the National Press Club. “Police whisked him away and left his phone with me,” said Abdul Rajeeb, a Dhaka-based leader of BNP-affiliated the Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal.
On Thursday, a Dhaka court convicted former prime minister Khaleda in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case and sentenced her to five years in jail.
