PV Desk : The government has banned the use of mobile phones near exam centres in a desperate attempt to stem the steady flow of question leaks on the social media.
On Sunday, the education ministry sent a directive to authorities across the country, which ordered arrests of mobile users within 200 metres of exam centres.
The instruction to the chiefs of all district administrations and education boards also said that students, who will fail to take their seats 30 minutes before the test, will not be allowed to take the tests under any circumstances.
Despite the 30-minute instruction, it has been found some centres allowed students to sit for the exams and individuals carried smartphones near the centres.
According to the regulations, only the centre secretary is allowed to use a phone with no camera. But he or she has to use it in the office.
Since the exams started on Feb 1, leaked questions are appearing on the social media, especially on Facebook, few hours ahead of the tests.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has announced a cash reward of half million taka for information leading to arrests of question leakers.
