PV Desk : With fresh 81,846 people finding jobs in January 2018, a total of 51,98,914 male and female Bangladeshi workers have been able to fetch overseas employment from 2009 to 2017, according to an official of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.
The official said the government has taken a realistic plan to exploit the potentials of a booming overseas Bangladesh manpower market, which has been declared as a thrust sector.
He said Bangladesh sent 24,51,093 workers with overseas jobs from January 2009 to December 2013. The dispatch of overseas Bangladeshi workers witnessed a phenomenal growth with the figure reaching 27,47,821 from January 2014 to December 2017, the official added.
Earlier, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc said that the government is expecting overseas employment for 11 lakh more job seekers this year as against 10 lakh in the last year.
He said the present government has sent workers to 165 countries as a result of its successful labour diplomacy under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
