PV Sports Desk : Top order batsman Mominul Haque became the first player from Bangladesh to score a century in both the innings of single Test match against Sri Lanka beating Tamim Iqbal’s record.
The diminutive left-hander, who became the fastest to reach 2000 Test runs for Bangladesh during his 176-run knock in the first innings scored 105 on Day 5 of the first Test against Sri Lanka. His combined first and second innings score in the Test now stands at 281.
In the 47th over, Mominul struck a single off Lahiru Kumara to reach the landmark. Previous record holder Tamim Iqbal struck a second innings double century against Pakistan back in 2015 which saw him hold the record for most runs in Test with 231 runs.
The diminutive batsman Mominul, who scored 176 in the first innings, made 105 off 174 balls to help his side to post 307 for 5 and secured an admirable draw on the fifth and final day at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
The first of two Tests ended in a stalemate with 1533 runs scored and 24 wickets taken in the five days.
