PV Desk : Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed today expressed the hope that all political parties would participate in the next national election which will be conducted by the Election Commission (EC) as per the Constitution.
He said staying away from the next parliament election will be harmful for any political party because the party which did not join the election earlier had been affected.
Tofail said this while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a Syeda Anjuman Ara Girls’ School founded by Anjuman Ara-Mujib Foundation at Jagannath Dighi under Chauddagram upazila in Comilla.
The commerce minister said the EC will conduct the next election and the present Awami League government will do its routine work during the election period.
The EC successfully conducted the Rangpur City Corporation and Comilla City Corporation elections and it will also be able to conduct the next parliament polls in a peaceful manner, he added.
Tofail said Bangladesh will be a digital based middle income country by 2021 and it will complete graduation from LDC in 2024. He urged all to extend cooperation to Awami League for Bangladesh’s successful graduation from LDC.
Railways Minister Md Mazibul Hoque, member of the governing body of Syeda Anjuman Ara Girls’ School Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, deputy commissioner Md Jahangir Alam, chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Comilla Prof Md Abdus Salam and Syeda Anjuman Ara Girls’ School Principal Meher Makbula, among others, attended the programme.
International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh (ICCB) President Mahbubur Rahman, also chairman of the foundation and the governing board of the school, delivered welcome speech.
Mazibul Hoque said the country witnesses a massive development when Awami League comes to power as the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s main aim is to work for the welfare of the people, he added.
