PV Desk : The government today appointed Additional Inspector General of police Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary as the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Javed Patwary, who has been serving the Special Branch (SB) of police as its head equivalent to secretary status since 2013, will succeed AKM Shahidul Hoque.
The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home today issued a gazette notification to this end.
The order will come into effect from January 31.
Hailing from Mandari Village under Chandpur Sadar, Javed had completed his honours and master degrees from Department of Social Welfare of the Dhaka University and obtained Ph.D. degree from Department of Local Administration of Jahangirnagar University on “Combating Terrorism in Bangladesh: Challenges and Prospects .”
Javed joined the police force through the sixth Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) exam.
During his long cherished carrier, Javed also served the police force as commissioner of Khulna and Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, deputy inspector general (DIG) of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), commandant of Noakhali and Rangpur police training centre, director of Police Staff College, and special superintendent of the city SB.
