PV Desk : Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu today called for expanding technical education to increase skilled workforce and meet the upcoming demand of industries in Economic Zones (EZs) across the country.
“The government has established 100 EZs across the country. The demand of technical manpower in the industries of the EZs is increasing,” he said, speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of two-day National Conference-2018 of the Diploma Engineers Association of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) here.
Held at Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB), the function was also addressed by BCIC Director M Shain Kamal, IDEB President AKMA Hamid and Secretary M Shamsur Rahman, among others. BCIC Diploma Engineers Association President Lion M Omar Ali presided over the function.
Amu said the government has set up Technical Training Centre (TTC) at every upazila across the country for developing skilled and trained manpower.
He said the government is establishing separate polytechnic institutes for women across the country to bring them into the mainstream of the development activities.
As per the demand of BCIC engineers, he said, the government will take necessary steps to solve their professional problems, including appointment and promotion.
