SA TV honours Gazi Mazharul Anwar, Kobori Sarwar


PV Entertainment Desk : Noted film director and musician Gazi Mazharul Anwar and National Film Award winning actress Kobori Sarwar received lifetime achievement awards from private channel SA Television for their outstanding contributions to respective field on Friday.
The TV channel honoured them on the occasion of its 5th-anniversary of foundation.
SA Television awards noted personalities every year for their outstanding contributions to different fields, including arts, literature and culture.
Gazi Mazharul Anwar, a Bangladeshi film director, producer, lyricist, screenwriter, freedom fighter and music director, earned the National Film Award for best lyricist a record five times.
He worked as a lyricist in the ‘Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra’ during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
Over 21,000 songs were written by the legend songwriter Gazi Mazharul over the last five decades. The popular lyricist also directed and produced commercially and critically acclaimed films.
On the other hand, Bangla heartthrob film actress Kobori Sarwar received the National Award for her performance in the movie Sareng Bou (The Captain’s Wife).
Sarwar, also an Awami League lawmaker, made his debut in cinema as an amateur artist at the age of 13 (1964).
She acted in her first film ‘Sutorang’ under Subhash Dutta’s direction, while after 40 years (2004) Subhash Dutta acted in the movie ‘Aaina’ under Kabori’s direction coincidentally.
