Hunger strike till death, say Ebtedayee teachers


PV Desk : Bangladesh Swatantra Ebtedayee Madrasa Shikkhok Samiti has started observing a hunger strike unto death on Tuesday (Jan 9) in demand of nationalization of all Ebtedayee Madrasas.
The madrasa teachers announced the fresh program from their ongoing sit-in that began January 01 in front of the National Press Club.
Madrasa Shikkhok Samiti general secretary Mokhlesur Rahman declared made the announcement nine-days into the sit-in program On Tuesday morning.
Madrasa Shikkhok Samiti president Kazi Ruhul Amin Chowdhury, Senior joint president Nazrul Islam Hiran and other Non-MPO madrasa teachers were present at the time.
General Secretary Mokhlesur said a total of 85,000 Ebtadaye madrasa teachers have not received any salary for 34 years and living in inhuman condition. According to our previous announcement, we have observed a sit-in program from Jan 1 to Jan 9 but government did not take any initiative to realize our demand. We are starting indefinite hunger strike now.
