PV Desk : Consumer Association Bangladesh (CAB) alleged that the mass hearing on electricity has become ineffective and farce as the proposal of reducing price has been rejected here.
CAB president Golam Rahman came up with the remark at a press conference in Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) auditorium on Sunday morning (January 7).
Terming the power price hike as unfair and irrational, Golam Rahman demanded for price reduction.
He said, “In the public hearing, we have proved that it is very much possible to reduce the price of electricity. But the increase in prices proved that Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) is not neutral.”
He alleged that users are bearing the extra price of electricity that is originally caused by wrong policies and corruption. The price was increased by showing artificial deficit in production and distribution and common people have strong objection against it.
CAB chief also said if there is no initiative to reduce the price of electricity within 10 days, then legal action will be taken.
