Internet users get no benefit of bandwidth price-cut : Jabbar

PV Desk : Posts Telecommunications and Information Technology minister Mustafa Jabbar said no matter how many initiatives government takes, the making of Digital Bangladesh won’t be successful if people do not have internet affordably.
He made the remarks to reporters after exchanging greetings with officials at ICT tower in city’s Agargaon area on Thursday (Jan 4).
Jabbar said Internet is the fundamental right of the people. The government has brought down the price of bandwidth from Tk 78,000 to Tk 600 only but the users haven’t been benefited from it.
“I want the users to get bandwidth package because the operators buy bandwidth not data.”
The ICT minister also said government is responsible for providing security of user’s personal information and stopping push SMS from the operators. Action will be taken on these issues.
ICT state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Secretary Subir Kishore were also present with Jabbar at the time.
