BAF training aircraft ‘crashes’ in Cox’s Bazar

PV Desk : A training aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) is believed to have crashed in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday evening.
Assistant Director of Inter Services Public Relations Rezaul Karim said a Yeak-8 type BAF training aircraft remained disconnected from the radar since 6:15pm.
“We’re not yet sure about its fate,” he said, adding that a search is on to trace the aircraft.
Meanwhile, the inspector (Investigation) of Maheshkhali Police Station said locals informed them that two burning portions of aircraft slammed on the ground – one at Putivilla village and another at Jaliapara village.
Firefighters were working to douse the blaze, he said, adding that it was not clear what caused the crash. “We’re not sure whether there was a midair collision between two aircraft or the two portions of a single aircraft fell onto the ground,” he said.
