PV Desk : Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) will open its first branch in Chittagong.
“A proposal to install a branch of PIB in Chittagong will be placed to the government before next budget,” PIB director general Shah Mohammad Alamgir told the concluding session of a three-day training programme.
PIB and Chittagong Press Club (CPC) jointly organised the training programme for the journalists on investigative reporting at the CPC auditorium.
Mohammad Alamgir said PIB is running by a regulation of 1974 and it will set up its branch in Chittagong following the regulation.
The PIB director general said the training programme for journalists will be organised at upazila level to enhance their skills and competency.
Chaired by CPC president Kolim Sarwar, the concluding session of the programme was addressed, among others, by former chairman of the Communication and Journalism Department of Chittagong University Ali R Razi, Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) president Reaz Hayder Chowdhury, CUJ general secretary Mohammad Ali, CPC general secretary Shuklal Das, BFUJ joint secretary General Tapan Chakroborti and CPC joint secretary Chowdhury Farid.
