PV Desk : The High Court (HC) today ordered owner of a diagnostic centre in Comilla to provide Taka three lakh as compensation to a victim of a botched c-section, where doctor stitched a woman’s womb leaving one of the twin fetus inside.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice A.K.M. Zahirul Hoque passed the order asking Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) to take action against Dr Sheikh Hosne Ara Begum, who conducted the surgery and ordered her to refrain from taking part in any such operation until the action is taken against her.
The court also ordered the director general of Directorate General of Health Services to take punitive action against Life Hospital and Digital Diagnostic Centre. The court came up with the order as the owner of the diagnostic centre and the accused surgeon appeared before the court today.
The High Court on October 29 summoned three including Comilla civil surgeon over the surgery.
