Rohingya repatriation begins in 2 months: FM


PV Desk : Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said that the Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar will return to their home in Myanmar’s Rakhine state once it becomes habilitate for them.

“Discussions and agreement have been made with Myanmar”, said the minister.

Mahmood Ali was addressing a press briefing organized upon the signing of the latest instrument between Bangladesh-Myanmar in his recent visit to Naypyidaw, at the ministry off foreign affairs Saturday (November 25).

“Bangladesh and Myanmar agreed to start the repatriation process in a reasonable time. India and China also gave consent to cooperate with the process.”

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked between the two neighboring countries can be taken as an agreement, he added.

“I held a meeting with Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi at her office.”
