Bangladesh now vice president of UN anti-corruption body


PV Desk : Bangladesh has been elected Vice President of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).

Ambassador of Bangladesh to Austria Md Abu Zafar will serve the duty under Asia Pacific Group, for two years.

Bangladesh embassy in Vienna issued a press release regarding this Tuesday (November 7).

Currently, Md Abu Zafar is leading the Bangladesh team at the 7th session (CoSP7) of UNCAC Conference of the States Parties which began at Vienna on Monday (November 7). The debate will end late this week.

Over 1,600 participants are attending COSP7, with about 45 side events and exhibitions will be held on the margins of the conference to promote discussion on anti-corruption activities.

The Convention, adopted in 2003, covers five main areas: prevention, criminalization and law enforcement measures, international cooperation, asset recovery, and technical assistance and information exchange.
