TIB now finds corruption in ACC

PV Desk : The Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), in its new study, now finds corruption at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) mentioning that the country’s anti-corruption watchdog can’t work independently all time.
The TIB revealed the findings of its study at a press conference at its office in the capital city on Sunday (November 04).
Speaking at the press conference, TIB Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman said that it could not be said that the ACC is a complete transparent body. The ACC officials are also involved in corruption.
“During our study, they (ACC) assured us (TIB) that they would not only take divisional action against the corrupted officials, they will also take legal action against them,” said the TIB executive director.
He said that the ACC officials are involved in corruption in different sectors, including banking and real estate sectors. The ACC authorities have to pay attention to the matter that all are equal in law. So they have to create level playing field for all.
Iftekharuzzaman, however, said that the ACC is trying to come out of corruption. The body won’t uproot the corruption solely. They need support, he added.
TIB’s deputy program manager Md Shahidul Islam placed the findings of the study at the press conference.
