Review plea in Nov for repealing 16th amendment verdict

PV Desk : Law Minister Anisul Huq said a review petition will be filed in November for repealing the Supreme Court’s full verdict that scrapped the 16th amendment to the constitution.
The minister was holding discussion with Attorney General Mahbubey Alam at the latter’s office Saturday (November 4).
Anisul started the talks at around 11:45 am.
“We have inspected the whole verdict. Petition will be filed seeking repealing the whole”, he told reporters.
Earlier, it was assumed that the petition will be filed against inspection of the verdict. Now the decision has been changed.
However, two additional attorney generals including other officials concerned to prepare the petition attended the meeting.
Earlier, the attorney general formed an 11-member committee of the lawyers, to prepare the plea seeking a thorough review on the verdict delivered by the Supreme Court. The members have been working upon making the review plea from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm in each working days since October 15.
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court earlier scrapped the 16th amendment of the constitution, shifting a power to the Supreme Court Judicial Council after stripping it off the Member of Parliaments (MPs), to impeach the Supreme Court judges.
However, the 799-page verdict was published on August 1.
