Two JSC examinees die after boat capsize


PV Desk : Two Junior School Certificate, or JSC, examinees died and another five people were injured after a boat capsized in Brahmanbaria, police have said.

The incident occurred on the Pagla River in Nabinagar’s Krishnanagar Union around 8:30am on Wednesday, said Brahmanbaria Assistant Superintendent of Police (Nabinagar Circle) Chiranjan Pal.

The dead have been identified Nadira Akhtar and Shanta, both 14 years old.

The other victims have been admitted to various local medical centres. Their names were not available at this time.

About 70-80 students had boarded a boat from Birgaon to sit the JSC exams on Wednesday, Chiranjan said. The boat capsized just before reaching the Krishnanagar port, he said.

All of the other passengers are accounted for, he added.
