DMCH resumes emergency services

PV Desk : Emergency services at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, or DMCH, has resumed three hours after they were shut down after a patients’ family and friends became violent, the hospital administration has said.
Fifty-two-year-old Naushad Ahmed passed away at the hospital’s Coronary Care Unit on Sunday afternoon, said DMCH Police Outpost SI Md Bachchu Miah.
“Around 2pm, the family and friends of the patient attacked the hospital with the help of some others. Some doctors, nurses, staff and Ansar members were injured in the attack.”
The doctors closed several gates to the hospital for safety and halted emergency services, Miah said.
The emergency services had to be stopped around 2pm for security after the attack, DMCH Director Brig Gen AKM Nasir Uddin told. Services were resumed around 5pm, he said.
