Bangladesh-Myanmar talks begins in Naypyidaw


PV Desk : Bangladesh delegation joined the Senior official level meeting of Bangladesh-Myanmar in Naypyidaw, the capital city of Myanmar, Tuesday (October 24).

Starting from 09:00am, the meeting was scheduled to continue till 12:00pm, at Horizon Lake View resort.

Bangladesh secretary for public security Mostofa Kamal Uddin is leading the 12-member delegation while U Tin Myint, Myanmar’s Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs is leading his country’s 16-member representative team.

The meeting will followed by a ministerial-level bilateral meeting at the conference room of Myanmar Ministry of Home Affairs, from 02:00pm to 04:00pm.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed between Bangladesh-Myanmar in the meeting.

Earlier, a higher level delegation led by Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal reached Myanmar Monday (October 23), to hold discussion on Rohingya issue.

The repatriation of displaced Rohingyas, Drug smuggling and other regional security issues will be discussed in the meetings.
