SA make clean sweep in ODI series

PV Sports Desk : South Africa made a clean sweep in the three-match ODI series as they crushed Bangladesh by 200 runs in the third and final ODI held on Sunday at Buffalo Park, East London.

Chasing a massive winning target of 370 runs set by South Africa, Bangladesh found the chase stiff and finally all out for 169 in 40.4 overs.

All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan top scored with 63 runs while Sabbir Rahman added 39, after South African bowlers launched early inroad picking up wickets in regular intervals.

Dane Pateros finished 3 for 44 runs while Markram and Tahir shared two wickets each for 18 and 27 runs respectively. Earlier, South Africa amassed a challenging total of 369 for 6 against Bangladesh, after opted to bat first.

Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock set the tone for a big total and were well succeeded by the likes of debutant Aiden Markram and Faf du Plessis. Though some Bangladesh bowlers tasted late success after the damage was done already.

Mashrafe Mortaza and Mehedi opened bowling for Bangladesh. However, South Africa were very little bothered about who the bowler was. De Kock and Bavuma were fired up to score quick runs and they stuck to the plan. Boundaries came in abundance as the duo brought up team’s fifty in eight overs and hundred in 14.4 overs.
