PV Desk : BNP chief Khaleda Zia may return to the country as early as this week, according to senior leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
“She is coming back very soon. I am hoping that she is returning this week,” he said on Saturday while responding to queries from the media.
The BNP secretary general, however, could not give a specific date.
Khaleda, a three-time prime minister, has been in London since Jul 15 for medical treatment. She is staying at her elder son Tarique Rahman’s home.
BNP senior vice chairman Tarique has been living in the UK since 2008.
Khaleda has always met him in London after he had moved from Dhaka, where he faces trials in a number of cases and has been convicted of money laundering.
Early last month, senior BNP leader Alamgir said that the party chief will return to the country in the second week of September.
