2 Rohingyas killed in Cox’s Bazar elephant attack


PV Desk : Two Rohingya people, including a woman, were trampled to death by an elephant and five others sustained injuries in the attack at Balukhali makeshift camp in Ukhiya upazila in the district.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.
Witnesses said a wild elephant entered the camp around 1 am and damaged eight sheds of Rohingyas, leaving one of them dead on the spot and six others injured.
Among the injured, a woman succumbed to her injuries when she was taken to Kutupalong Medical Center, said officer-in-charge of Ukhiya Police Station Md Abul Khayer.
The other injured, including two women, are undergoing treatment at the medical center.
Earlier on September 18, two other Rohingyas were killed in similar elephant attack in Kutupalong camp as the makeshift Rohingya camps are situated in the area of elephant sanctuary in Ukhiya.
