PV Desk : Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi yesterday called for bringing necessary reforms in the UN Security Council for the betterment of its member countries.
“We need a reformed Security Council…without its necessary reforms, we cannot establish a peaceful world,” he said.
Dr Rizvi was speaking as the chief guest at the concluding ceremony of a three-day conference titled “BUP Model United Nations Conference: BUPMUN -2017” at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) at Mirpur Cantonment here.
The conference was organized by the BUP and Unilever, Bangladesh with the theme ‘Creating a better world through fostering diplomacy and ensuring equity’.
“Security Council will have to be expanded and the P5 countries have to be modified,” Rizvi added.
For the problems of the five veto member countries, he said, the council has failed to perform its proper duty.
