Bangladesh opens door for Rohingyas while others shut off: PM


PV Desk : Pointing out her country’s benevolent role, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that unlike the other countries, only Bangladesh has given shelter to the oppressed Rohingya people of Myanmar.
“Lakhs of Rohingya refugees entered Bangladesh after fleeing persecution in Myanmar’s Rakhin State. Only Bangladesh has allowed the displaced refuges while many others closed entrance to them.”
Sheikh Hasina was addressing a crowd before Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday (October 7).
The mass gathered for bestowing the premiere with a grand reception, on her return to home after wrapping up visits to US and UK.
Acknowledging gratitude to the countrymen, she said all the achievements earned by her and the country have been possible as the people contributed, cooperated and devoted.
Citing that the Rohingya refugees have been sheltered in Bangladesh for humanity’s sake, she said, “The father of the nation taught us to help the people.”
“The (Rohingyas) were sheltered here following a swift decision as the people of the country have trust and support on it.”
