Suu Kyi needs to heed UN’s call: UK minister


PV International Desk : Myanmar needs to heed the UN Security Council’s call to end violence and allow aid workers in the Rakhine, UK Minister of State Mark Field, who visited the region, has urged the country’s leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
Field is the first foreign minister to visit the western Myanmar state since the crisis there escalated with almost half a million of Rohingyas fleeing to Bangladesh, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office said in a statement.
The British minister pressed for an ‘urgent resolution’ to the crisis, during talks with State Counselor Suu Kyi in capital Naypyidaw.
He emphasised on Britain’s call for the Myanmar government to implement recommendations of the Kofi Annan commission.
