Deal signed to construct new rail line in Cox’s Bazar-p/1


PV Desk : An agreement was signed on Saturday to construct a 102 kilometer long dual gauge rail line from Dohazari to Cox’s Bazar via Ramu.
The Tk 18034 crore project financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will be implemented in two in three years.
Project director Md Mofizur Rahman signed the first lot agreement with China CREC representative Zhong Guangzhou and second one with president of another Chinese company CCECC Zhao Dianlong at Rail Bhaban in presence of Railways Minister Md. Mazibul Hoque.
Chinese company CREC and Bangladesh’s Toma construction Company will jointly implement the first lot of the project from Dohazari to Chakaria at Tk 2687.99 crore.
Chinese company CCECC and Bangladesh’s Max Infrastructure limited will jointly implement another portion of the project from Chakaria to Ramu at Tk 3502.5 crore.
Under the project 102 km long new dual gauge railway line, 184 bridges, nine station buildings, platforms and sheds will be built.
Director General of Bangladesh Railway Md Amjad Hossain and its senior officials were also present.
