PV Desk : The government has allocated Taka 175.77 crore for compensating about 11, 64, 580 flood-hit farmers across the country.
Of the allotment, Taka 117 crore would be spent for 6 lakh flood-affected farmers in haor areas under rehabilitation programme while rest of the amount Taka 58.77 crore would be spent for providing agricultural inputs to 5,41,201 farmers so that a farmer can cultivate crops at least on one bigha of land.
Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury formally announced allocation while addressing a press briefing at her ministry’s conference room here today.
“The agriculture ministry will provide necessary inputs, including seeds and non-urea fertilizer to some 5, 41,201 small and marginal farmers at a free of cost for cultivating a total of 10 crops on one bigha of land in the upcoming Kharif-1, 2 and Robi season in 2017-18,” she said.
Under the programme, the farmers will get necessary seed and fertilizer for cultivating wheat, maize, mustard, bean, Khesari lentil, summer season Mung, sesame, black gram, peanut, and BT-Brinjal on a total of 72,306 hectares of land across the country.
