Bangladesh pilgrims sue 18 Hajj agencies

PV Desk : A total of 98 Bangladeshis, who have failed to travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj this year despite having visas, have sued 18 Hajj agencies, an official says.
“They had passports and visas but not the tickets. No representatives from the agencies were present at the Hajj camp either,” Hafizur Rahman, joint secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, said at a media briefing. “We have recorded their complaints.”
As many as 127,229 Bangladeshis are performing Hajj this year, he said.
Visas were granted to 127,596 but 367 of them could not fly to Makkah for a lack of flight bookings, sickness and other reasons, he said.
The Hajj office had filed a general diary as well, based on which the ministry may prosecute the Hajj agencies and find out the reasons for mismanagement, Rahman said.
