Tribute to Nazrul on death anniversary


PV Desk : People from all walks of life paid rich tribute placing floral wreaths to National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on his 41st death anniversary, at his graveyard at Dhaka University (DU) campus.
Earlier, members of the poet family showed respect to the evergreen soul, at Nazrul’s graveyard at around 06:50am Sunday (August 27).
Khilkhil Kazi, a granddaughter of the rebel poet, said “We are going through such an era when the whole nation is facing a struggle. He (Nazrul) sought end of the struggles through his poetry, plays and novels.”
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor paid respect to the poet by placing floral wreaths at the grave.
A delegation of BNP led by its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, DU Vice Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique and the varsity’s teachers, students, staff were among others remembered the poet at his graveyard, marking his death anniversary.
Besides, Nazrul Institute, Kabi Nazrul Sahitya Mancha, Bangladesh National Museum, Jatiyatabadi Sangskritik Samity executive committee, distinguished student dormitories of DU, DU units of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Jatiyatabadi Chhatar Dal (JCD) showed respect to the national poet Sunday.
