Former cricketer Khaled Masud Pilot’s father drowns

PV Sports Desk : Former national cricket team skipper Khaled Masud Pilot’s father drowned in a pond in his hometown of Rajshahi.
Shamsul Islam, a former national footballer, died while he was bathing at a pond in Sagarpara neighbourhood in the northern city, said the family.
“Like every other day, he went bathing around 11:30am. We started to look for him as he did not return even after an hour. The body was found around 1pm after a search in the pond,” said Islam’s brother Rafiqul. The 73-year-old was known as Shamsu in the 60s and 70s, when he played for the two major Dhaka clubs — Mohammedan and Abahani.
He was the second player from the erstwhile East Pakistan to play for the Pakistan national football team.
In 1965, he went to Russia as part of the Pakistan youth squad.
