MP Rana faces order to appear in court

PV Desk : The Supreme Court has ordered Tangail MP Amanur Rahman Khan Rana, now detained in prison, to appear in court on the day of the trial on the murder of freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed.
A three-member appellate bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha also adjourned Rana’s bail hearing until Oct 15.
During a hearing on Wednesday, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said Rana was rarely brought to court, prompting the bench to order Rana to appear on the day of the trial.
Rana received bail from the High Court, but the bail was later stayed by the Appellate Division for four months. The court also ordered that the trial be completed within six months.
Police pressed charges against Rana, his three brothers and 10 others in a 2013 case that involves the killing of Tangail Awami League leader Faruk.
