PV Desk : Law Minister Anisul Huq has commented that the history was distorted through the 16th constitutional amendment verdict that created heated debate in the political arena as well as the country.

He made the comment while speaking at a ‘Meet the Press’, organized by the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity at its auditorium in city’s Segunbagichha on Sunday (August 13).

Anisul Huq said that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been undermined in the verdict. The apex court said that the Liberation War did not happen because of unilateral effort. This is an irrelevant discussion in the verdict. There is no doubt that the history has been distorted through the statement, he added.

Replying to a question of reporters, he said that the government will file a review petition with the Supreme Court seeking expunction of some of the remarks in the verdict.

The minister said that the government is scrutinizing the full text of the verdict. He claimed that there is currently no constitutional vacuum.
