PV Desk : Police clashed with locals of Dhaka’s Banasree area after a protest was sparked following a housemaid’s death in the area on Friday (July 4).
At one point, the clash grew violent as police threw rubber bullets and tear shells and protestors torched a private car.
Earlier on Friday afternoon (August 4), a house help, identified as one Laily Begum, 25, who used to work as a maid at house 14, road 4 in Banasree, allegedly committed suicide by hanging.
However, deceased’s relatives claimed the death as a murder. After the news of her death broke out, locals and relatives staged a demonstration in front of the house.
On information, police forces were sent to the spot to bring the situation under control, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Motijheel Anwar Hossain.
