BRAC University has cancelled classes for two days in the face of protests over an alleged assault on a law teacher by university officials.
All classes for Wednesday and Thursday have been cancelled, said a notice issued by BRAC University Vice-chancellor Syed Saad Andaleeb around 3pm Wednesday.
But exams will continue on schedule, according to the notice.
Law teacher Farhaan Uddin Ahmed said he was assaulted by Registrar Sahool Afzal and two others at the university for refusing to accept his termination papers on Sunday.
Many students have since been boycotting classes to take part in protests.
A committee formed by the university to probe Farhaan Ahmed’s assault claim has been rejected by students.
A new committee has now been announced with AFM Yusuf Haider, chairman of the Department of Mathematics and Natural science, as its head.
