Khaleda’s lawyers to cross-examine four witnesses

PV Desk : BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s lawyers have received permission to cross-examine four witnesses in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case.

The petition was heard and granted by the High Court on Sunday.

Khaleda’s lawyers had moved the High Court over the issue after a trial court rejected the initial petition.

The witnesses to be called back for cross-examination are Janata Bank Deputy Manager Sheikh Makbul Ahmed, Standard Chartered Public Relations official Md Amirul Islam, Standard Chartered Customer Service Manager Amal Kanti Chakrabarti and Anti-Corruption Commission Deputy Director Chowdhury MS Alam.

The petitioners had also requested the cross examination of witness Md Saiful Islam as well, but a mistake in the petition resulted in its dismissal from the High Court, said Khaleda’s representative Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan.
