Art helps flourish latent talent of children

PV Report : Veteran journalist, former President of National Press Club and President Emeritus of Commonwealth Journalist Association (CJA) Hasan Shahriar said Art plays a crucial role in flourishing latent talent of children as contribution of art in molding human civilization is immense.

He was speaking as chief guest at the prize giving ceremony of 19th Rafi Smriti Open Art Competition jointly organized by Children Leukemia Assistance and Support Services (CLASS), Rotary Club of Islamabad and Rotaract Region Karnaphuli held at city’s Safa Arcade auditorium on Saturday evening.

He called upon parents to be more attentive in taking care of their children to build them as worthy citizens of tomorrow.

Noted artiste DU Fine Arts Faculty Prof. Abul Bark Alvee, judge at the competition inaugurated the event.

Over four hundred students of different educational institutions from the city and its outskirts took part in the competition. The grand award recipients are Isfar Sajjad Argha, Pungti Sen, Mehnur Akhter Manira in ‘Ka’ grade, Lamia Tabannum Rahia, Wasika Nawar Muna, Anannya Chowdhury in ‘Kha’ grade while Anika Marjan, Sajia Afrin, Nusrat Jahan in ‘Ga’ grade. Special prize winners are Ainani Tajrian Ajmain, Shrabon Dey,  Shafkat Ayub  Priyam, Ahnaf Tajoar, Naima, Adnin Sharaka Tanisha, Ahnaf Tahmis Daiyan, Safwan, Fabiha, Alam Pue, Mohammad Abir, Farhan Mahmud Ashraf, Jafna Binte Jafura in ‘Ka’ grade. Sumaiya Binte Abu Bakkar, Nusrat Jahan Pritee, Aiyan Alam, Raeem Umayer Saad, Snigda Dey Shoili, Jarikul Islam, Israt Jahan, Sanjida Rahman Meem, Nabila Afrin in ‘Kha’ grade and Mayesha Ibnat, Puja Kokshi, Majrabin Binte Morshed, Nanjiba Munjareen Jaisia, Fahmida Binte Absar, Sajjatul Islam Jayeef, Arnab Chowdhury in ‘Ga’ grade.

Mentionable, crest, medal, prize-bond and gift cheque were given to winners.

Chaired by CLASS Chairman, noted journalist Osman Gani Mansur and moderated by Rotary Club of Islamabad President Rotarian Kazi Zahed Iqbal, the function was also spoken, among others, by rotary leaders and Rotaract region Karnaphuli representatives.
