PV Report : Deputy Commissioner Md. Jillur Rahman Chowdhury said steps to construct truck terminal are being taken up to ease traffic congestion in the city.

He said this while speaking at a function arranged on the occasion of a courtesy call by Chittagong district truck, covered van and mini bus owners at his DC Hill residence on Thursday.

He said Chittagong is the commercial capital of the country, but regular traffic jam is one of the nagging problems in civic life. And hence there’s no alternative to construct truck terminal to ensure normal life of the city dwellers.

Severe traffic jam is created due to parking of trucks, covered vans and mini trucks  on the highways as there is no specific terminal, the meeting was told.

Yusuf Sarwar, Md. Musa, Md. Emdadul Hoq, Md. Hossain Talukdar, Shahdat Hossain, Md. Hanif and Solaiman Compaby were present on the occasion, among others.
