PV Desk : In a recent crackdown to flush out illegal immigrants, Malaysia detained at least 239 workers since Friday night (June 30), reports some national media outlets of the country.
Bangladeshis topped the list of detainees including also from some other countries.
Of the 239 detained, 51 workers have no valid papers.
Most of the detained used to work in furniture and plastic shops, said the reports.
The authorities said they began the rounding up and deportation of foreign nationals who are in Malaysia without valid work or visitor documents.
Malaysia is a popular destination for migrant workers aiming for blue-collar jobs, whether as office cleaners or factory workers, in sectors ranging from construction and plantations to restaurants.
