PV International Desk : Bangladesh Foreign affairs secretary M Shahidul Haque on Tuesday (June 20) paid a courtesy call on the United Nations (UN) Secretary General António Guterres.
The UN chief hailed Bangladesh’s economical growth, capabilities in preventing disasters and risk management in the meet.
António Guterres expressed his hope to see Bangladesh in the key line to achieve the progress for executing SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) and in the struggle for confronting the threats of climate change.
He also expressed gratitude to Bangladesh for contributing to UN peacekeeping missions.
The UN chief informed Shahidul that Bangladesh Prime Mnister Sheikh Hasina will be invited at the upcoming ‘Circle of Leader’ meeting of the UN General assembly.
Citing Bangladesh’s forthright commitment to the values and policies of the UN, Foreign affairs secretary Shahidul said, Bangladesh is confident upon the leadership of António Guterres for protecting interest of the developing countries.
