PV Desk: Overnight rains caused by the low pressure system in the Bay of Bengal have flooded some low-lying parts of Chittagong.
Chittagong residents had previously faced similar difficulties at the end of May, when Cyclone Mora caused heavy rain and flooding in the city.
The repeated flooding has provoked an angry response from residents in the low-lying areas of the port city.
The Chittagong City Corporation must form an initiative to overcome the problem, they say.
The rain began on Sunday evening. It continued intermittently throughout the night, accompanied by storm minds.
In the 24 hours leading up to Monday morning Chittagong experienced 151mm of rainfall, said the Patenga Weather Office. A No. 3 cautionary warning has been issued at several maritime ports over the seasonal low pressure sstem.
The rain and storm winds are likely to continue for the next 24 hours, said Weather Office Meteorologist Sheikh Sharif Ahmed.
