PV Desk : The Parliament has passed the supplementary budget for 2016-2017 fiscal year allowing the government for additional expenditures in different ministries and divisions.
It was passed in the current budget session of the 10th Parliament on Tuesday (June 06) with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
The supplementary budget of Tk. 18,370 crore 22 lakh and 50 thousand was passed to meet the additional expenditures of 26 ministries and divisions.
Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith placed the supplementary budget in the House on Thursday (June 01) along with the proposal of national budget for 2017-18 fiscal year.
The ‘Appropriation (Supplementary) Bill, 2017’ was approved by voice vote.
Different ministries, divisions and institutions sought the additional amount under 26 demands for the grant. MPs of both treasury bench and opposition bench brought a total of 149 cut-motions. The MPs discussed four proposals of the cut-motions, which were rejected by the voice vote.
